Our Work

Jubilee Australia's work to eradicate global poverty and injustice is grounded in rigorous analysis of the international economic and political context in which long term poverty persists.

We are working toward the establishment of new economic policies and structures that promote transparency, justice and the sustainable use of natural resources, in order to see the lives of people in less-developed countries changed for good.

Our Work

Themes

Debt and Development

Since at least the early 1980s, less-developed countries have seen recurring sovereign debt and financial crises disrupt their economies and cause suffering to their people.

Export Credit and Mining

It is far from simple for less-developed countries to translate investment by foreign companies in extraction of their mineral resources into national growth and development.

Global Governance and Economic Transformation

Under current global governance, less-developed nations are paying a very high price to play by the rules of financial and economic globalisation.

Campaigns

Financial Transactions Tax

An international tax on wholesale financial transactions would reign in short-term speculative trading and raise much needed funds for poverty alleviation and climate change.

End Tax Haven Secrecy

Tax dodging by multinational companies costs less-developed countries over one-hundred billion dollars every year.

Stop Debt Vultures

Vulture funds are private investment firms that prey on the world’s poorest countries. These commercial bankers circle developing countries on the lookout for debts that the country is struggling to repay.
