Our Work

Mission and Goals

Jubilee Australia's work to eradicate global poverty and injustice is grounded in rigorous analysis of the international economic and political context in which long term poverty persists, despite unprecedented levels of global wealth. 

Our research and lobbying targets the underlying causes of poverty, in particular those policies of government and practices of business that perpetuate economic injustice and discriminate against individuals, communities and countries in the Global South. We are working toward the establishment of new economic policies and structures that promote transparency, justice and the sustainable use of natural resources, in order to see the lives of people in less-developed countries changed for good. Our work focuses on three thematic areas: Debt and Development, Mining and Development, and Global Governance / Economic Transformation.

 

Why do we do it?

We are driven by our relationships of solidarity with civil society groups, networks and peoples movements in the Global South who are at the front line in the struggle against extreme poverty and environmental degradation, and who call for economic justice, not just charity.
